Camp Tents- A Beginner’s Guide on Buying the Right One

August18

When you talk of base camping you are going to camp on campgrounds that you no longer have to hike to be able to go there. This is the best place to spend quality time with your loved ones and kids since this is more convenient than camping to camp sites that are located in high mountains. They are too dangerous for the kids. However, going on this type of outdoor adventure would require camp tents. These tents will serve as your shelter for your entire stay on the site.

If you are a first time camper, you would really have a hard time looking for the right tent since there are so many camp tents that are out in the market nowadays. They come in different brands, types, features and prices. If you do not have enough understanding on this gear, finding the right one will definitely become a headache. Family tents come in so many types and sizes. They also have to be in time for the season. There are tents that are for summer, spring or winter. It will depend on the weather on when you are going to use them.

Normally, big families prefer to buy cabin tent since they are big enough to hold a standard family. Though it is a bit pricey compared to conventional types but you are guaranteed that everybody is comfortable inside. In fact they can hold from six to eight persons inside. So just try to imagine if there are 6 members in your family. The tent is big enough to hold everybody and you can still put some of your personal belongings inside. It is really hard to camp if your tent is too small for you. It would really be a nightmare for everyone when you sleep.

Camp tents are said to be the most important gears when you go on camping. It is important that you bring along the right type so you will be comfortable at night when you sleep. Though you can compare it to how your house could give comfort but as much as possible tents should help you relax after the long day of hiking and walking. Remember you are staying away from your home, even if you can not see your bed you would still wish to sleep on a comfortable place.

If there are kids with you, it is necessary that you make their stay as comfortable as possible. They are not used to this type of set up. But you would want them to experience another environment that would help them appreciate what nature has given them. So your camp tent must still give them the feeling of staying inside the house. Thus, cabin tent is the best type for your family to avoid getting crowded inside.

Camping is really a fun and great experience for the family and friends. However, you have to make sure that you bring the right tools, gears and gadgets to make your stay comfortable and convenient. If you fail to do this, the trip will definitely become the most terrible experience of your life.

Family Camping Gear Guide

August4

Camping out has always been a very popular recreation, particularly with family groups since there is nothing better to build close family relationships than a good camping getaway. Going camping has these days become a lot more popular in today’s economic crisis because it is an economical option for a vacation. You won’t have to pay a lot of money in resort or hotel room charges and you can help save even more by cooking your own food. A lot of camping areas have their own recreational facilities plus some even supply night-life for free or with a small charge.

The greatest cost when you first go camping is buying the tent. This is the most important piece of camping equipment. If there are two of you a 3 man tent is an excellent size since you’ll have more space for a lot of your other supplies as well as clothes. Another good size tent is the 6 person tent, which will typically have 3 separate compartments. This is ideal for a family group of four because the parents can sleep in one inner compartment and each one of the kids have a distinct inner compartment of their own without being too much away from their parents. When you have a huge family unit or party of people going on a trip together, then big tents with lots of individual areas can be purchased. You can get 10, 12 and 14 man tents, and the big tents may have five to seven chambers.

One of the latest designs in tents is the tunnel tent as suggested by its name is shaped like a tunnel with the entrance either in the end or in the middle. The bigger tunnel tents have separate tunnels off from the primary tunnel which can be individual rooms. Normally 3 man, 4 man and 6 man tunnel tents have the entrance on one side and have an area off both sides and opposite the entrance for the 6 man tent. Greater volume tunnel tents including 8,10 and 12 man tents have smaller tunnels or compartments off the main tunnel. A different style is the dome tent which is in a dome shape of different sizes with the dome separated into compartments. A good brand of dome tent is Wenzel tents.

Cabin tents have always been a popular family tent because they were the earliest kind of tent to possess separate chambers plus a living/dining space. The cabin tent is perfect for family trips as every family member can have their own area. The cabin tent has a main entrance way that leads right into a living area and is then sub-divided into separate chambers with dividers. Cabin tents are usually a six person tent at least but can go right up to 12 to 14 person tents for larger families or parties.

Another necessary bit of camping equipment is sleeping-bags. These come in various shapes and sizes. You may get double sleeping bags for couples and even specific girls sleeping bags which are a great pink color or boys sleeping bags with their favorite football team on it; a well-known make is Coleman sleeping bags. A superb piece of advice is to buy sleeping bag liners and camping mats. These will assist to maintain your sleeping bag in good condition and also keep going longer. You will also want either a sleeping mat or camp cot for additional comfort and also to keep you protected from the terrain.

Sportsman’s Guide: Alaska Fishing Camps

June16

My friend Bob is always looking for the next great adventure. Recently he took a trip up to Alaska and spent a week at a fishing camp. When he returned he seemed almost disappointed to be home. It turns out that he had the best vacation of his life and had enough stories about the “one that got away” to last a lifetime. No sooner was he back then he was talking about planning his next getaway to the northern state.

Alaska is well known not only in America but all over the world for it’s fantastic landscape, beautiful scenery and it’s great hunting and fishing opportunities. Every year hunters from Japan, England, Germany Scandinavia and a lot of other countries are heading toward Alaska for fishing and hunting adventures or just for great outdoor experiences.

Bob spent a week at a fishing lodge up in Alaska. It was hard to tell if he enjoyed the comforts of the lodge in the evening or the amazing saltwater and ice fishing he did during the day. You see, the cold, deep oceans that surround that region make it one of he best fishing spots in the world. Bob told me that on any given day he would catch at least a dozen fish that were worth bringing back. Of course, he did just that much to his wife’s chagrin when he packed about two dozen of them in dry ice and had it send back home via overnight courier. Keeping the fish as fresh as possible is the big challenge for every fisherman. Fortunately Alaska has a well built apparatus of courier services due to requirements from the thousands of sport fishermen that need their catch brought home in a fresh condition.

Spending a week with fellow fishing enthusiasts from around the world he learned some of the tricks of the trade that he says he can’t wait to get out on the water and try locally. Of course, no fishing getaway adventure would be complete without tales of the “big one that got away” and as his friends and co-workers can attest he has been filling them in on the stories on a daily basis.

An avid fisherman myself I am going to take Bob up on his advice and next summer will join him for a getaway to see how many tall tales I can come back with – and who knows, maybe I’ll catch a fish or two.
