How To Choose The Best Campsite

August14

Are you interested in going on a camping adventure?  If you are, have you already decide where you would like to go camping?  If you have yet to choose a campground park to camp at, you may want to think about doing so soon. In the summer months, camping is a popular activity; therefore, you will want to make sure that you are able to get a camping reservation at the campground park of your choice.

Another one of the many reasons why you may want to think about making your camping reservations in advance is because many campground parks allow their guests to handpick which camping spots they want.  Of course, not all campground parks allow you to do this, but you will find that a large number of them do.  In terms of getting a good camping spot or a campsite, you will find that the earlier you make your reservations, the more campsites you have to choose from.

Speaking of choosing a camping spot, which is also commonly referred to as a campsite, you may be wondering what you should look for in one.  In all honesty, the “perfect,” campsite is likely to vary from person to person.  It actually depends on your wants and needs, as well as the wants and needs of those in your camping group. Although there may be some variations of what you are looking for, you may want to take some of the factors mentioned below into consideration, when choosing the perfect campsite.

One of the first things that you will want to do is review who you are going camping with.  If you are going camping with children, namely small children, you may want to think about making sure that your camping site is a good distance away from any bodies of water or any dangerous hiking trails.  You will also find that many campground parks have onsite playgrounds and such. If you are camping with children, it may be a good idea to try and get a camping spot that is located near a playground or other locations that are designed for children.

In addition to the safety of those that you will be camping with, preferences are also something that should be taken into consideration, when choosing a camping spot or a campsite.  If you are a water lover and would regularly like to spend your time boating, fishing or swimming, you may want to think about getting a camping spot that is close to the water. On the other hand, if you would prefer to spend your time hiking, you may want to try and get a camping spot that is located near the campground’s hiking trail, and so forth.

Size is also another factor that you may want to take into consideration, when choosing a campsite.  When reviewing campgrounds, you will find that different campground parks have different sizes campsites.  Often times, the larger campsites are designed for those with multiple tents or with motor homes. Before agreeing to rent a particular camping site, you will want to make sure that the site in question is large enough for all of your camping group members.  This is important as not having enough space could put a damper on your next camping adventure.

The above mentioned factors are just a few of the many factors that you may want to take into consideration, when choosing a camping spot for your next camping adventure.  As a reminder, not all campground parks allow you to choose your owing camping sites, but a large number of them do.

Finding the Perfect Campsite

August8

Going camping and connecting with the great outdoors is a fun family activity. But to get the most of your camping experience you need to find the perfect camping spot.  But exactly how do you find the best place to spend your camping time? It just takes a little research and know how!

National and State Parks
There are beautiful natural resources at our disposal that are maintained and preserved by federal and state governments.  These could be a large national park like Yellowstone or Yosemite, or small recreation areas like lakes and reservoirs.  The national parks have campgrounds that you can reserve a campsite at simply by visiting the recreation.gov website.

On the reservation website you can search by type of camping you wish to do, tent, camper, cabin, etc. You can also search for campsites available by state or region. Specify the dates you want and the site will generate a list of all the available campsites in the area. You can then make your reservation online and you are good to go. It doesn’t get better than that!

For reserving campsites in state parks, check with the official state website of the state you want to visit. Generally they will have a link to reservation or at the very least, a phone number you can call to make reservations.

Privately Owned Campgrounds
There are many campgrounds that are privately owned and operated. Many are run by well known camping companies like KOA or CamperWorld.  These campgrounds cater to travelers, campers, and people who want to stay long term. Most are connected or close to attractions like amusement and water parks or lakes and other recreation areas.  Most have laundry facilities, playground, and possibly a pool.  Some of the campsites owned by big companies require a membership to stay at their sites, so make sure you know before you book to avoid extra fees.

Know What You Want
If you are not a rough it camper, make sure the campground you choose has the features you want. Most commonly people want running water and bathroom facilities. Nothing makes a weekend camper more miserable than having to dig a latrine or pack in water if they aren’t used to that kind of camping. So do your homework and make sure you know the amenities you will have at the campground before you make a reservation.

Reserve Early
Many national and state park campgrounds fill up quickly. In fact, most of the camp sites start taking reservations in January so plan your trip well in advance. Generally if you reserve early you will get your pick of campsites so you can have the quiet spot by the lake instead of next to the busy highway.

Keep in mind that not all campsites or campground will have hookups for RV’s or even be accessible for large campers and trailers. This is another important thing to ask when you make your reservation. You don’t want to arrive and find out you can’t hook up to water or maneuver your RV into the camp spot.

Camping is a great way to connect with nature and enjoy the peace and serenity you will find. Make your camping trip the best it can be by preparing early and getting the best campsite!

Good campsite for college students in Michigan?

May22

I want to plan a camping trip this summer with a few freinds, all of which are college students. We are looking for a campsite in Michigan where there would be more people our age. Not a place where there would be familys and kids around. Not that we would bother any of the families, but just looking for a fun place to go and maybe meet other people our age, and a place that wont be strict if there is alcohol at the camp site.

How does a campsite work?

May18

Im not sure if this is the right category to ask this in…but here goes…

I plan on taking my family camping for the first time this summer. My dad and his wife and kids will be in a camper and me, my husband and our 1 year old daughter will be in a tent. We want to get a site that can accommodate all of us (we’re trying to be economical). Do campgrounds usually allow a camper AND a tent? Or do we need to get side-by-side sites?

Thanks for your answers!

Choosing A Campsite – 3 Important Facts For Campers

May16

Have you decided on a campsite for your next camping trip? Have you decided what kind of adventure you are looking forward to? For some reason, if you have made up your mind to go camping but have not picked a place to go visit, then this may be the time to do so. Studying up on the different places can help you narrow down where you would like to go.

During the months of June, July and August, camping is a very popular activity/ family vacation for people to get together whether it is for a weekend, a week or more. So before the summer months get here, it is a really good idea to have a place in mind and reserve your camp spot on the campsite park of your first choice.

1. Why Choosing Campsites Early Works Best –

For most campground sites, park officials will allow those individuals who reserve early to choose where they would like to camp at. This includes spots near the water or hiking trails or even with a fire pit and picnic tables. While some do not practice this, a big number of campgrounds do to keep repeat visitors. Either way, the earlier you call in to reserve your spot, the more spots you have to choose from for your vacation.

You are probably speculating about what is considered a “perfect” campsite because the reality is nobody has the same ideal feeling. It really depends on what a person is needing and what a person is expecting.

While what you want may be combined with some other aspects of a camping trip, it is possible to use those ideas to your advantage.

When looking at the perfect campsite, there are three dynamics that should be considered: Size, Who’s Going and Things To Do.

2. Who Is Going Camping With You –

When you are going camping, think about who all is going with you. Should you be camping with children, you need to be sure the campsite is safe. If you have really young children, then perhaps you need a site away from water or hazardous hiking trails.

You should find a site that has playgrounds and other things suitable for young children. Get a spot that is located near these places for the safety of the children.

What You Want To Do During Your Trip

When you choose a campsite, it is vital that you choose one that is to your preference. If you are a water lover, you may want to spend your time boating, fishing or even swimming so getting a place close to the river or lake would be handy.

However, should you prefer a bit of hiking with everything else available, try to get a site closest to the campground’s hiking trails

3. Campground Sizes Do Matter

If you decide to camp out with your motor home or have multiple tents, then you may need to choose a campsite that offer these spots. Before you agree to any camping site, be sure you know if the site is big enough for everyone in your party.

If it seems the size of the party outdoes the size of your ground, everything is going to feel cramped and it certainly will not be any fun.

After studying up about camping and all the garb that goes with it, do you still feel like it is something you wish to do? If so, then choose the spot that works for you and those who will be joining you.

Choosing the Perfect Campsite in Italy

May10

Italy is an ideal place to go camping. With beautiful weather, stunning countryside, and local attractions that range from water parks to cultural cities, art museums to quaint villages, it is an outstanding holiday destination for couples and families alike.

Italy’s campsites are numerous and of a universally excellent quality, and choosing between them can be a challenge. If you want to take a camping holiday in Italy but you don’t know how to start narrowing down your options, here are the main three things you need to consider…

Location, Location, Location

When choosing a campsite in Italy, location is the most crucial factor that should sway your decision one way or the other. Ask yourself what is most important to you for your holiday: golden beaches? Exciting cities? Fun days out? Beautiful countryside? Once you’ve narrowed down a list of your priorities, you can select a region that will give you everything you want from your camping holiday in Italy.

If you are looking for natural splendour, Sardinia, the Italian Lakes or Tuscany will be the places to choose from; they are the most spectacular pieces of countryside that Italy has to offer. If you’d rather pay a visit to one of the country’s major cities on your camping holiday to Italy, historic Venice, vibrant Rome and cultured Florence are the three major places to consider staying near. And if beaches are the one and only thing you simply can’t be without, head to the Adriatic Coast near Venice – it has the finest collection of beaches and resorts in the country.

Campsite Facilities

When you’ve narrowed down the region you want to go for, take a look at the campsites in that area. Once again, the most important thing is to know what you want and see whether or not a site can give it to you. For couples, having a kids club on site is irrelevant, but for families looking to keep the children entertained (and the adults relaxed!) it can be a real deal breaker!

Italy’s campsites vary tremendously in what they can offer their visitors, with facilities often including swimming pool complexes, sports facilities, bike hire, horse riding, and even sailing facilities and boat hire available at certain campsites. Take a look at what’s on offer, and choose the Italy campsite that will give you all the extras you want.

Tent or Mobile Home?

You’ve picked the perfect region and found the campsite of your dreams – all that remains is to choose how you are going to stay there. All of the bigger campsites in Italy will offer you a range of options, usually including a mixture of tents and mobile homes. Staying under canvas can offer an experience that many children love, but if you prefer the comfort offered by a home away from home, a luxury mobile home can prove to be the perfect place to stay.

Get the right location, the right campsite, and the ideal place to stay, and you’ll be well on your way to having an unforgettable camping holiday in Italy!

What is the best campsite in Northern California?

My husband and I are going to Crescent City next week and want to do some camping. If anyone has any experience camping near here, please let me know what your favorite site was. We need to stay pretty close to Crescent City because we are going to visit family, and would like to be near the coast. We are also willing to be in Oregon. Thanks for you help!
