I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with Goodyear Wrangler tires(size 30×9.5 R15LT). As it turns out I got a flat that is unrepairable, and these tires are discontinued. The other 3 tires are in decent shape and I have been told that I cannot put a different tire on even if it is the same size. From what I gather it’s because of the 4 wheel drive. If this tire will be on the front of the jeep and I don’t put it into 4 wheel drive will I have a problem? Also if I end up getting one new tire it will be a different size anyway because the others have been used for awhile. I’ve gotten several different answers on this issue any experience would help. Thanks

Din’t mix treads. definately unsafe.
new tire should always go in front and yes fuel milage and mybe a vibraction at high speeds
having two different tires on one axle will throw the alignment out of whack!
I have seen people put different tire of the same size on an axle. I have never met a mechanic who recommends doing it. Just buy two new tires for the front axle it isn’t that much more money.
if they are the same size there is no harm in 2 different tire types ther is not going to be a noticeable difference in height or anything else no dangers no wobbles and you can still use the four wheel drive if needed its not going to affect it in the lease
Unsafe, especially on the front.
Yes, a lot of people do it, some don’t have problems, others do. Mixing tread is bad for handling. Mixing sizes is bad for the differential. Your call ultimately, but as someone else said, get a matching set for each axle. As long as they are the same sixe, you won’t have too much trouble.
