Well, you might want to spend a night in your truck bed!
I went camping two weeks ago and we looked all over the city (Dallas TX, so believe me, we looked a lot) and the cheapest one that we could find was for $60 at Walmart (there were two for a penny cheaper at Target – $59.99).

    This is the exact one:
    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10756674

While we only needed to use it for one weekend, we returned it to the store and said that it didn’t include all of the parts and was useless.
It was perfectly fine, but we just wanted to be sure we got our money back.

I’m with you on the prices though.
Tents are way more expensive these days than they used to be.

    One other thing:
If you are a short person, or won’t mind sleeping curled up for a little while, there are kids tents for as low as $20 (also at Walmart or Target). I’m 5′2″ and I tested a set-up one at the store and I fit well. Ended right at my head and feet though, but it could work if you only needed it for a night or two and were not that tall.

check out the one man tent by Eureka, I forget the name. Its a yellow thing rounded over. I think you can find it for about that price.

Also check out the Kelty Noah 9- its a tarp. It weighs about half as much as tent and cost about $45-50.

You could also go to the Coleman web store and use the “family” discount. You’d find a couple of one man tents for about that money if you do.

you pay for what you get, buyer beware.

try camping rentals you sometimes can get good used equipment for under 50 bucks, but since your looking for a bigger tent you will pay more.

the wenzal recommended by luv 2 camp is inexpensive but read the reviews as I said you get what you pay for.

hmmm i wouldnt advise buying a really cheap tent since it probably wont last more than a year or 2 and wont be the best waterproof material. i had a cheap one once and all the zips got stuck, it was pretty useless

Tents are expensive, but this site has multiple, 4-man tents for under $70. They all have 4 out of 5 stars on reviews from Amazon. Maybe they’re worth a try.
