My wife and I have been looking all over for good hiking boots for her. We tried Dick’s, Gander Mountain, Tractor Supply, even DSW Shoes. Where’s a good place to buy camping gear, specifically hiking boots, near Canton? The places we tried had a few, but not very much selection. She’s looking for a medium-duty, high-cut boot.
GAnder Mountain!

Hi there!
Me and my Boyfriend are going camping to lake Placid Saturday, and Honestly i’m not too sure what to pack!
We’ll be there for 2 days…. and because we’re crossing the border ( with all the food restriction) we’ll get those when we get there!
We have a tent – blow up matress ( all sleeping gear)
we’ll get from a friend a portable BBQ, bring a cooler,
probably a portable radio, camera, swimming gear..
Am i forget anything??
Thanks
If the other answerer is correct, that it gets cool at night. I want to tell you, the blow up matresses do not get warm. There is no thickness to the bedding to hold in your body heat – great for summer.. but you maybe want to find a warm wool blanket to put on the bottom, electric blanket maybe 9 if there is electric available) or maybe a down filled sleeping bag or something ont he bottom. You may want to bring some type of heater. Or at least some good warm wool socks. Keeping your toes warm will go a long way in keeping your whole body warm. As well.. if you need a last minute on the fly heater… you can look this up on the net too.. its legit. Take a roll of toilet paper, put it into a coffee can that is big enough for it. Pour a bottle of isopropyl rubbing alcohol into it.. let it soak into the TP real good. You can light this and it will provide heat for serveral hours. The TP acts as a wick and isopropyl alcohol burns very slowly, and clean. You don;t have to worry about it being back for your lungs. as well.. its always the small things that one forgets. Like matches and/ or a lighter. maybe refills bottles for the portable BBQ. a pocket knife, or swiss army knife. flashlight.. I like to use the focus lamps that you can sit ont he ground. for cooking.. you will need dishes. I suggest 1 skillet, 1 sauce pan, i large spoon, i spatula, coffee pot which can be used not only for coffee, but cooking a second food item, or boiling water, etc. 2 plates, and 2 sets of silverware. 2 cups. You might want to bring at least one towel for both of you to share, 2 if you have space. Bar of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, you will want most of your basic personal hygiene items. Some type of detergent to wash our your dishes. can opener…jeez.. lots!

Do these 2 countries have rules against camping on beaches, or anywhere outwith a camp site?
Are there any web sites you could suggest that outline any camping codes in place?
Many thanks…
I dont think there is a rule against camping on the beaches but i would highly reccomend not doing it because you might loose parts to your tent but if you dont care Castell Montgri in Estartit, Costa Brava is very good

I am going camping tomorrow and it’s been raining all day. We are expecting up to an inch of rain today. Does anyone have any tips for keeping dry and comfortable tomorrow on the wet ground with wet wood????
Put a tarp under your tent, this will keep the ground moisture away form you. As far as the wood goes, if you buy enough wood (dry) to get it started, the wet wood will burn. If you can prop the wet wood against the side of the fire ring until the dry wood is blazing. This should help and speed along the process.

I am gonna be doing some camping on my property that is very big in dense forest area. I want a good tent that I will use for staying in when i start building a hunting shack/house. Whats a good tent that will keep me dry and comfortable in some rough weather? I might not build anything if the tent is good enough quality?
Here`s a site that gives you brand name tents at discount prices:

Here`s another option….a hammock:

I only use the hammock now…no worries about rocks, roots, sticks, uneven ground, and no need to carry a sleeping pad.

i’m not sure on how to care for a camping tent, so i hope someone can help me. tnx
Most tents are treated with waterproofing so I wouldn’t recommend using soap. Just try hosing it off.

I’m going on a camping trip and would like to know if you have used a good quality air mattress that has lasted you for a long time. I’m tired of buying cheap ones and waking up on the floor. I just don’t know wich brand is good quality. Please tell me what brand you have used and how long it lasted. Thank you.
Try a Big Agnes, you can’t go wrong. It packs very small and gives you a very comfortable sleep. I have been through the Themo rests, self inflating and this Big Agnes is like sleeping on a bed compared to those others.
