Any recommendations of an itinerary for a week long camping/hiking trip from Vancouver to Banff/Lake Louise?

March 11, 2010 - 1:17 pm 1 Comment

Looking for must-see sights and great hikes in the Banff/Lake Louise/Jasper area. We only have a week to make the round-trip from Vancouver. Is there anywhere along the way that is worth stopping for a day? We are big hikers and want as much natural beauty as possible! Also looking for recommended campgrounds – preferrably tent-only places, but we do like flush toilets and showers. Thanks for your help!

roat trip camping???? how to find campsites along the way?

March 11, 2010 - 1:17 pm 6 Comments

My family and I are going on a 2 week road trip this summer. we are looking to just get in the car and start driving with no particular destination in mind. we plan to take our tents with us so that when we can’t find a hotel at employee rate, we can camp. how do we know where there are cheap campsites wherever we might be? i hate the thought of paying more than $15/night to sleep in a tent. We have never camped before so any advice would be great. We are thinking of either going to the carolinas or all the way around lake michigan.

How can I make my parents let me go camping with my girlfriend?

March 11, 2010 - 1:14 pm 11 Comments

Ok. Here’s what’s up. My girlfriend invited me to go camping with her and her family over the 4th of July weekedn but my parents won’t let me. I’m 15 years old and I’ve been dating this girl for around 4 or 5 months. There will be chaperones and everything so I just don’t see why I can’t go. Any ideas on how I can get their approval? Thanks everyone.

Wyalusing State Park, Homestead Campground

March 11, 2010 - 8:02 am No Comments

Wyalusing State Park sits on bluffs 500 feet above the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. Within the park’s 2628 acres you will find hardwood forests, bluffs, springs, waterfalls, and spectacular vistas. You can see ancient Native American effigy mounds and imagine what the French explorers Marquette and Joliet thought about them as they became the first Europeans to set foot here in 1673. There are more than 23 miles of trails for hiking, biking and skiing. More than 100 bird species, including bald eagles, hawks, owls, and various waterfowl, can be observed during the spring and fall migrations. There are 109 family campsites, group tent campsites for 130 and a lodge/dormitory complex for 108 people. Nearby is the Villa Louis Victorian mansion. Across the river is the Effigy Mounds National Monument where you can observe 205 mounds considered as ceremonial and sacred sites by American Indian tribes.
