Help on lifting my Wrangler?

Ok, so I own a 2006 Wrangler X model. Just about everything is stock, tire and clearance wise. Someday I would love to have 33″ tires, and somewhere in the ball-park of a 1-2″ lift. Now, I dont know a THING about any of this stuff, so I would appriciate some advice on what to do. I drive about 90% street/highway, and the other 10% would fall into the occasional snow storm, or minor easy trails. I dont plan on beating up my Jeep much, because I want it to last me as long as it can. But I do want it to be tough. With this being said, what would be my best option lift wise? Body or suspension? What kind? Company? What kind of tires would suite me best? Would spacers be necessary?

I know suspension lifts are more expensive, but if getting one would be the best option in the long run then so be it.

I know its my choice on what I want to do, but im only asking for advice to steer me in the right direction.

And please dont abbrieviate anything, because I wont know what you’re talking about.

Thank you so much for your help!

-Bobby
With any of these things added (33″ tires, 1-2″ lift) will there be any additional costs that will need to be made in the future?

Tire Size/Chain size for driving through the snow….?

So I’m going to be driving to Oregon this weekend and need to get chains just to be on the safe side. I drive a Jeep Wrangler ’03 and the tire size is 30×9.50 R15LT. That’s what it says on the tire. The sizes on the chain boxes at the stores are different and I’ve been told different sizes- is there a difference?

Good ring and pinion gears for a TJ with Dana 35 and 33″ tires?

It’s currently got the factory 3.73 gears in the differentials but after a routine check the other day it was discovered that the popping noise I hear during acceleration was not the u-joints but it is the rear ring and pinion gears wearing out. I currently have a 4″ pro comp lift on my TJ and it’s got 33×10.5 KM2′s. The tires only have 6,500 miles on them but I already know that when they are worn down I am going to go up to 35×12.5 tires, probably KM2′s again. I put a lot of miles on my Jeep so the new tires aren’t many years away, probably about a year and a half. I’ve only had the Wrangler for 21 months and I’ve run it up from 77,000 miles to 116,000 miles after all.

Anyways back on track. I was thinking that because I am going to go up to 35′s in the not-so-distant future, I should probably go ahead and put the gears in that will work best with those instead of the best for the 33″ tires. Yes I know my gas mileage will be worse but it will have more power too for the time being. Would 4.56 be a good choice? It is my daily driver so I don’t want to go crazy with the low end power but lose top end speed, a lot of my driving is on the highway. That is a bit of a problem I am experiencing right now is that I get 11 mpg with the 3.73 gears because on the highway I have to down shift to 4th just to maintain a speed above 65 going up any kind of hill or into any breeze. It has the 4.0L engine too.

Is having 2 different tires on the front axle going to cause a problem?

I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler with Goodyear Wrangler tires(size 30×9.5 R15LT). As it turns out I got a flat that is unrepairable, and these tires are discontinued. The other 3 tires are in decent shape and I have been told that I cannot put a different tire on even if it is the same size. From what I gather it’s because of the 4 wheel drive. If this tire will be on the front of the jeep and I don’t put it into 4 wheel drive will I have a problem? Also if I end up getting one new tire it will be a different size anyway because the others have been used for awhile. I’ve gotten several different answers on this issue any experience would help. Thanks

Can you identify My truck RIMS? ( jeep )?

I have a lifted jeep wrangler with 33′s on it and i need a 5th rim and tire to mount on the rear for My spare. i need to match the rims that i have. here is a pic of My jeep. http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz47/pcbuilder97/Screenshot2010-10-15at94839AM.png
i first thought they were crager wheels. but since it has procomp tires on it i started to think maybe they are procomp 97 series. Since a lot of times rims and tires for trucks can come in a package together. i just bought this jeep used so i don’t know ware the rims came from. the center caps have also been removed which is making it harder to figure it out. can you help me identify these?

I am thinking about selling my 1999 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 with 136000 miles for a 2003 Jeep wrangler x with 78000 miles and a 4inch lift and 35″ tires. The toyota has been the best truck ever not a problem since the factory. Im a little scared of selling it b/c its so dependable. Will i regret selling it?

33′s on jeep?

Okay so I have a stock jeep 98 wrangler. I want to fix it up a bit and use it on and off the road. I want to be able to do some trails and climb a few hills. I also want it to look tough. I want to put some 33 inch tires on it. What lift would be the best for this, do i need to mess with the gears, and any other advise you might have. I have been off roading with it stick but the tires slip and my frame always hits .
